Brazilian Waxing at Revel Wax in Santa Clara
Book NowBrazilian waxing doesn’t need to feel intimidating or mysterious. Whether you’re booking your first one or you’ve been waxing for years, it helps to know exactly what you’re signing up for.
So, let’s talk about it. What actually gets removed? Brazilian or bikini? How much does it hurt? What happens during the appointment? And why does waxing usually get easier the more consistently you do it?
At Revel Wax in Santa Clara, we’re reinventing body waxing around a better experience: expert technique, serious attention to cleanliness, and appointments designed to be comfortable, efficient, and judgment-free. Most services take less than 15 minutes, but we never rush the details that matter.
Here’s everything you actually want to know about getting a Brazilian wax.
so what’s a Brazilian wax?
A Brazilian wax removes hair from the entire pubic area, including the front, labia, and between the cheeks. Go completely bare or leave a strip, triangle, or natural patch—it’s up to you.
At Revel, we use warm hard wax and expert technique for a comfortable, efficient service, guiding you through positioning every step of the way.
Every Brazilian takes place in a private treatment room with careful attention to your skin and cleanliness. Most appointments take 15 minutes or less, without ever rushing the details.

Brazilian Wax vs. Bikini Wax: What’s the Difference?
The difference between a Brazilian wax and a bikini wax comes down to how much hair you want removed. A bikini wax cleans up the hair along the sides and top of the bikini line...essentially, anything that might show outside of underwear or a swimsuit. Everything else stays.
A Brazilian goes further, removing hair from the front, labia, and between the cheeks. You can go completely bare or leave a strip, triangle, or natural patch in front.
Not sure which one to book? Start with the amount of hair you’re comfortable removing. You can always choose more or less coverage at your next appointment. For a closer look at exactly what’s included, see our Bikini Wax guide before you book.
Does Brazilian Waxing Make Hair Grow Back Finer?
One of the biggest benefits of consistent waxing is how your hair can regrow over time. Because waxing removes hair from the root rather than cutting it at the surface, regrowth often feels softer than the blunt stubble left by shaving.
With a regular waxing schedule, hair may also grow back finer or less densely over time, although results vary based on genetics, hormones, and your natural hair growth cycle.
For the best results, most clients wax every four to six weeks and avoid shaving between appointments. Consistency helps keep hair on a similar growth cycle for smoother, longer-lasting results.

Brazilian Wax questions you might be afraid to ask!
These are some of the questions we hear all the time—especially from first-time clients. If you’ve wondered about any of them, you’re in good company. There’s very little we haven’t been asked, and there’s never a reason to feel embarrassed about asking.
-
No. Arriving with clean, dry skin is ideal, but you don’t need to schedule your day around showering immediately before your wax. We cleanse and prep the skin before every service, so just come as you are. If you’re coming straight from the gym or have anything you think we should know, tell us. We’ll take it from there.
-
A few tiny spots of blood can happen, particularly during a first wax or in areas where the hair is coarse. This is called pinpoint bleeding and typically stops very quickly. It’s completely normal and nothing to be concerned about.
-
No. For a Brazilian, you’ll undress from the waist down and keep your top on. Your appointment takes place in a private treatment room, and we only uncover and work on the area we need at that moment. We’ll guide you through positioning throughout the service so you always know what to do next.

-
It can. When you’ve been shaving, your hair may be at different stages of its growth cycle, and the first wax is often the biggest adjustment. The good news is that consistent waxing tends to get easier. As you stay on a regular schedule and stop shaving between appointments, many clients find that both the hair and the appointments become much more manageable.
Still have questions? We’ve put everything you need to know before your first appointment here, including how to prep, how long your hair should be, what to wear, and what to expect afterward.
-
Let your hair grow to about ¼ inch and gently exfoliate the area about 48 hours before your appointment. On the day of your wax, arrive with clean, dry skin and skip lotions, oils, or other products on the area.
Most importantly, don’t stress about doing anything special before you come in. First Brazilians are a big part of what we do, and we’ll walk you through the entire appointment so you always know what’s happening next.
-
Aim for about ¼ inch of growth, or roughly the length of a grain of rice. If you’ve been shaving, this is typically around two weeks of growth. Hair that’s too short can be difficult for the wax to grip, so resist the urge to shave or trim right before your appointment.
-
For most clients, every four weeks is necessary for the first 4–6 waxes, then depending on hair growth, appointments can be anywhere from 4–6 weeks apart. Staying consistent allows the hair to grow back on a more regular cycle and can make maintaining your results easier over time.
-
Yes. You can still get a Brazilian wax during your period; we just ask that you wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment. You may feel a little more sensitive around this time, so keep that in mind when deciding when to book.
